Miami Spa Month 2014

Wednesday, July 02, 2014

Summertime in Miami signals less tourists, hotter weather, and beachtime.  July and August is also a time for locals (and visitors) to enjoy Miami Spa Month.  Leading hotels and spas offer up their signature spa treatments for as low as $99.

Choose from a menu of treatments beyond massages. Discover the exotic the Moroccan Oil hair treatment and hydrating scalp mask to renew and bring back shine to dry and lackluster hair. Or an Indian head massage to relieve pressure from head, neck and shoulders.

If the surrounding decor and environment are important  for an all-around escape, visit a spa that encourages communal, shared rituals of ancient bathing traditions, with a Turkish-style Hamam, Roman waterfall, Aroma steam room, Finnish sauna and mud baths.

Mother Nature provides nurturing ingredients via the earth and sea to pamper the body, mind and soul. A Seaweed mask, milk & honey massage, brown sugar body scrub, or grape peel facial are just a few of the nature-inspired treatments to relax, renew and rejuvenate.

With so many to choose from, I've simplified the search with these deals that offer more than the spa treatment.

Lapis Spa at Fountainbleau Hotel, Miami Beach

Lapis Spa, Fontainebleau Miami Beach
Step into a water world of the 21st century. Romanesque marbled columns and flooring bordering swirling turquoise bath waters is a heavenly retreat.  Indulge in the Hot Stone Massage (50 min) which caresses with gentle waves of heat ( like butterfly kisses from Apollo himself). Or release that inner jungle fever with a Bamboo Fusion massage.  This combination massage is performed by hand with natural bamboo stalks to stretch contracted muscles.  Guests also enjoy access to the gym and the expansive Fountainebleau poolscape, featuring 8 pools surrounded by cabanas and sun loungers. Valet parking is also reduced from $25 to $10.  Advance reservations are required especially for weekends.

Elle Spa, Eden Roc Miami Beach
Miami is known for beautiful people. Not just celebrities but locals too.  Want to be a glow-getter? It's all about proper skincare, the real fountain of youth. Clear, glowing skin does make anyone appear ten years younger.  Ask for the Ultimate Glow and sashay off feeling radiant, confident, that everyone will ask "Who is that?"  Any 50 minute spa treatment is priced at $99 and includes access to Aquatherapy Lounge, the Relaxation lounge, access to the pool, and a selection of two fitness or wellness classes. Valet parking is discounted to $10.  Advance reservations required. 4525 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; (305) 674-5585

 Emena Spa
This is the first eco-luxury spa in the Design District where the treatments and services offered are carefully developed to revitalize both the spa-goer and the environment.  Select two treatments; top picks include a Custom Organic Facial (55 min) designed to treat your skin the way it deserves to be treated with the spa's organic line Eminence. Get an Essential Mani/Pedi Combo (90 min) or go straight for the Foot Master Reflexology Pedicure (90 min), which incorporates endless deep muscle foot and leg massage with the "Foot Master of Miami" so you can dance barefoot in the comfort on Mother Nature's turf.

Elemis Spa, Village of Merrick Park
If flavors invigorate your bodily senses, the British spa therapy brand is serving up some deliciousness to complement the city of sun. Cool off with an invigorating Orange Creamsicle (75 min) treatment, which includes an energizing orange sugar scrub for the body using the citrus scent of blood orange and white pepper, and a richly hydrating marshmallow foot mask (yes, marshmallow) followed by a Swedish massage. Try not to lick yourself when it's over. 330 San Lorenzo Ave. Coral Gables; (305) 774-7171

The Ritz Carlton Spa, Key Biscayne
Save the rum for later and indulge first in a 75-minute piña colada massage and body polish with this summer-themed treatment. The spa experience starts with an exfoliation of brown sugar and honey, and is followed by a massage with a moisturizer composed of essential oils like coconut, pineapple, and vanilla.  (May not include privileges to gym or pool. Please inquire at Spa Front Desk).
