Miami Spice is Here!

Thursday, August 01, 2013

The most anticipated dining program of the year is here again. On it's 12th edition, The Miami Spice Restaurant program brings residents and visitors discounted three-course lunch and dinner menus. From August 1 – September 30, 2013, more than 170 participating luxury and fine dining restaurants in Greater Miami and the Beaches will offer special Miami Spice menus with options to please any palate. This year it's easier to select and reserve the participating restaurants thanks to an enhanced website launching. Here is the link

What's the deal?
  •     Luxury restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe lunch at $23 per person, dinner at $39.
  •     Fine dining restaurants will feature menus at $19 for lunch, $33 for dinner.
  •     All Miami Spice menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert as part of the fixed price, which excludes tax and gratuities.
Sounds like very good deals, however, with so many restaurants to choose you'll be at risk of having to either settle for a boring and unsatisfying menu or having to pay a little extra for something. For this reason we have compiled a few of the best mouth-watering deals and reservation-worthy restaurants.

At Makoto, the Spicy Tuna Crispy rice is a must. And in honor of Miami Spice, Chef Makoto created new dishes including the shortrib yaki udon with stir fried noodles and the whitefish tiradito in a delicate green foam. If you like sushi, this is the place with the best deal.

The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions will be offering lunch and dinner deals during the Miami Spice program. For dinner appetizer, you have the option to choose two dishes from the menu, including the famous pig wings, creamy local burrata, and scallop casino. For the next course, you can choose from BBQ pork shank, cornish hen, the catch of the day, or steak. On top of that, you also get a side of mac and cheese, duck fat potatoes, or handcut fries. Desserts will change daily.

Pubelly will be offering the $33 dinner deal. Their menu is not on the Miami Spice website, however, you get to see a sneak peek here. For appetizer, there's a choice of two dumplings (duck and pumpkin, porkbelly and scallion, pastrami and sauerkraut, or shortrib and corn). For the entree, choose from two pork dishes (BBQ pork wings, porkbelly, pork meatballs, or ham braised pork cheeks). And then to balance everything out, you also get to select a side of vegetables (green beans, brussel sprouts, roasted broccoli rabe).

I hope our recommendations are helpful and you get to taste the best deals during Miami Spice 2013. Let us know, which restaurants  you visit and which deals you liked best.
