October 2, Le Chat Noir, a charity event for homeless cats

This inaugural event is sure to attract hundreds of animal lovers and professionals of all backgrounds.

The Cat Network, along with sponsorship from the ASPCA, is hosting this inaugural event to raise awareness of the escalating crisis of homeless pets, especially cats. Le Chat Noir  takes place at the prestigious Wolfgang Roth & Partners, Fineart gallery in the Design District. The theme will follow the elegance of the black cat, in vintage Hollwood  of black and silver. Attendees are asked to dress in their fine black apparel to celebrate the evening's honoree.

A special debut is the unveiling of Eva Trubetskaya's DEVA swimwear line with a fashion show. Next, a highlight are the black cats that will strut down the catwalk modeling their diamond collars and grace and beauty. Yes many cats are trained to walk on leashes! To top off the event, celebrity guest, Christopher R. Coppola and his biker cat Otto will share their story and mingle with guests.

Some of you may recognize Christopher (brother to Nicholas Cage and nephew to Francis Ford Coppola) from the Animal Planet featuring Christopher and Otto riding a motorcycle. Yes Otto has his own biker seat and goggles! Even his own Facebook page.

Attendees may also participate in a galore of raffle prizes and silent auction items including weekend hotel at resort with round of golf, spa treatments, restaurant gift certificates, and unique artwork.

No adoptable cats will be at the event as there are hundreds of them throughout the different cat adoption centers at local Pet Smart stores and with foster families with the Cat Network, waiting for homes. Click here to find your new best friend.

The plight of homeless cats is at an all-time high due to the recession. Indoor cats dumped into the streets by irresponsible owners. They fight to survive and they multiply, facing a host of dangers and litany of injuries and illnesses. Growing up in the streets is no home for a cat.  This evening will demonstrate the beauty and brains of these incredible creatures. Together we can save them.

October 8-9, Columbus Day Regatta
By Nancy Cooper

Calling all boaters (and everyone who knows a boater). For many of us in South Florida, the event calendar begins with the Columbus Day Regatta. Lots of boaters look forward to the regatta whether they own a sailboat or not, whether they're registered for the race or not. Once you hit the finish line, you'll find everything that floats from mega yacht to inflatable raft serving as party central.

Just a heads up for the sailors who plan to register, you only have until September 26th (Sunday) to register for $75. After that it goes up to $95. And after October 2nd, the prices goes up again to $125. Click here for online entry form.

October 15, "Love, Lust and Faking It", Jenny McCarthy presents her new book
No subject is too intimate for McCarthy, who weighs in on everything from boob jobs and dating to oral sex and threesomes. Like an intrepid anthropologist of love, she seeks out the experts, talking with a matchmaker (Bravo’s Patti Stanger), a therapist (her own), spurned lovers (female and male), and working girls at Nevada’s infamous Chicken Ranch (“I can tell you they have the best legs and breasts in town”) in pursuit of the elusive secrets of the perfect relationship. Whether sharing some peculiar aphrodisiacs from around the world (Mongolian wolf meat, anyone?) or considering astrological compatibility in the bedroom (“Sex with a Scorpio will probably be the best sex you’ve ever had! And I’m not saying that just because I am a Scorpio”), McCarthy keeps a clear eye on the ultimate prize—enduring love (and sex with the lights off).

Your purchase of the book is your entry to this event. Purchase a copy of Love, Lust and Faking It ($24.99 + tax) at any Books & Books location prior to Friday, or AT THE DOOR THAT NIGHT beginning at 6pm. Doors and cash bar open at 6pm. At 7:30pm, Jenny will talk, answer questions and sign books as she turns the lights on for a funny, often wise, and no-holds barred look at the essence of relationships: love and sex. Jenny will be happy to personalize and there is no limit on the number of books she will sign. She will sign (1) article of memorabilia in addition to the book. Candid photos will be allowed.

WHERE: EPIC Hotel; 270 Biscayne Boulevard
