Cavalia (Miami) Jan 19-31, 2010

Seen by more than 2.5 million people worldwide, Cavalia is a tribute to horses and a celebration. This multimedia extravaganza features more than 100 two-and four-legged artists, including beautiful horses of 12 breeds, riders, acrobats, aerialist, dancers and live musicians. It is this combination that sets the mood in the majestic White Big Top, the largest touring White Big Top in the world. Cavalia is the brainchild of Cirque du Soleil co-founder Normand Latourelle.

If you're an animal lover and wonder about the treatment of the equestrian artists, set your mind to ease.

Unlike Cirque, which famously eschews animal acts, Cavalia drew the attention of the American Humane Association, which governs the use of animals and children in film, television and live productions. The association signed off on Cavalia and says in a statement that the show ``underpins the principles of American
Humane by beautifully illustrating the emotional connection people share with
animals.''
