Journey: 450 Years of the African-American Experience - Journey: 450 Years of the African American Experience covers the long and storied history of African-Americans in St. Augustine. The story of African-Americans begins in St. Augustine with the first Africans both free and slave among founding colonists in 1565. The exhibition is designed for cultural and heritage visitors interested in the full history of America and its beginnings and comprises four themes: Genesis of the African-American Experience; Fortress of Freedom; Breaking the Chains; and Crossroads of Change.  Tickets are $5 for adults; $4 for seniors; $3 for youth 7-12; under 7 free. El Galeón Tour Tour a full-sized replica of a 17th century Spanish galleon. Docked at the St. Augustine City Marina, El Galeón Andalucia is an exact replica of the famous galleons that played an important role in the creation and maintenance of the Spanish Empire.  Built in Spain, it is similar to the galleon that brought Pedro Menendez to Florida where he founded St. Augustine in 1565.  The ship is available for tours beginning at 10 a.m. daily. The Last Good War: The Faces and Voices of World War II Exhibit of photographs of 30 World War II veterans along with their stories of the Last Good War opens at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.  Photographer Thomas Sanders captured these images and stories now presented in a traveling exhibition that will be at the Cultural Center through April 4.  The Cultural Center is openMonday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free.  50 Executive Way, Ponte Vedra Beach.  904-280-0614 www.ccpvb.org

"Freedom-Riders" - At 7 p.m., the National Endowment for the Humanities African-American Experience Film Series presents "Freedom Riders" in the Virginia Room, Ringhaver Student Center, Flagler College.  The film is part of the series Race and the South: St. Augustine in Context, presented by the Flagler College Ideas and Images Program marking the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act. Guided Trail Walk at River to Sea Preserve, Marineland - Visit the GTM Research Reserve at 9 a.m. for a free, guided hike in Flagler County's "River to Sea Preserve."  Stroll along a mile-and half trail through wooded coastal hammock to the Matanzas River.  Meet the guide in the parking lot of the River to Sea Preserve located on the west side of A1A at the southern end of the town of Marineland.  A directional "NERR" road sign will also be placed at the entrance.  Be sure to wear comfortable, closed toe shoes. St. Augustine Distillery Grand Opening - At 10 a.m., the new St. Augustine Distillery opens its doors to the public for the first time.  The beautiful new distillery is located in the historic power and ice plant built in stages between 1905 and 1927. 2014 Celtic Music and Heritage Festival - This popular festival kicks off on Friday at 7 p.m. with a Whisky Tasting and pre-festival party ($50 ticket includes tasting and party). On Saturday, St. Augustine's fourth annual St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 10 a.m.  Then, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., traditional Irish music, Scottish pipes and drums, contemporary Celtic Rock, literature, and all things Celtic will converge in celebration of St. Augustine's remarkable Celtic history and heritage dating back to its founding in 1565! The Celtic Festival features music by international headliners and regional stars including Black '47, Albannach, Ireland's Dublin City Ramblers and Jacksonville's Rathkeltair.  Don't miss the Highland Games of skill and strength on Saturday and Sunday! Mindful Garden Walk at Washington Oaks - Start with a warm cup of tea to settle the mind and calm the body.  Next, join Park Services Specialist Joe Woodbury on a walk into the botanical gardens at Washington Oaks State Park to discover how refreshing, healing, and wondrous the present moment can be.  Participants will be free to enjoy the peace and beauty that surrounds them.  Two tours are offered, the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m. Both depart from the Gardens parking lot.
